ECCP Meeting: Future of Environmental Peacebuilding

The Jubitz Family Foundation is interested in working in environmental peacebuilding. To help intentionally guide the Foundation’s work in this area, Kelsey Coolidge from the War Prevention Initiative of the Jubitz Family Foundation is canvassing the field to learn more about current challenges, opportunities, and what the future of environmental peacebuilding looks like. It’s important to reach out to as many people as possible to help inform our approach and ensure we’re informed by diverse groups of people in environmental peacebuilding.

Outcomes:

  • Notes from the discussion will be used to help frame the Jubitz Family Foundation’s work in this area. A grantmaking strategy will be developed and brought to the Foundation board in (tentatively) June 2025.

  • Notes from this discussion will be used to produce a series of public-facing documents (reports, op-eds, etc.) outlining the unique contributions of the environmental peacebuilding and opportunities for other interested funders/donors. Target outlets include Environment and Security journal, Inside Philanthropy, Chronicle of Philanthropy, and philanthropy-focused or environment and peace publications.

If you can’t make the meeting on March 18th, here’s a short survey where you can share your thoughts: https://forms.office.com/r/8QVJ7YaKmG

  • What excites you about environmental peacebuilding?

  • Where do you think there are gaps in research, practice, or policy?

  • What do you think about the future of environmental peacebuilding?
